Sadducees, Pharisees, and the Death of Jesus

If the Sadducees typically had an anti-messianic view while the Pharisees had a messianic view, is it possible to say the Sadducees in particular are responsible for the death of Jesus? In this episode, Professor Israel Knohl takes us through the night-trial of Jesus and explains who was there and who was not there and the effects of the group's underlying view of the Messiah.
Professor Israel Knohl is the Yehezkel Kaufmann Professor of Biblical studies at the Hebrew University and a senior fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem. He recently sat down with Dr. Yeshaya Gruber to talk about his new book The Messiah Confrontation.

The first Round Table Talk in which Professor Knohl talks about the Suffering Servant can be found HERE.
Today's conversation was taken from the second Round Table talk which you can find HERE.
